American Contemporary Photorealist,
Linda Hoard, expresses her art as "...the celebration of observation
and visual experimentation...". She began her career in art as a portrait
painter, but as she worked on her commissions, she soon found herself
more and more preoccupied with the fabric, jewelry and background details
of her subjects. This preoccupation led to her start in painting a Contemporary
Photorealistic style. Her oversize still lifes have continued through
the mid-1980s. Her concept in this creative process is to take a very
ordinary object and depict it in an exaggerated fashion, through size
and color extreme, and invite the viewer to perceive the object in a
whole new light. In the late 1980s, Linda returned to the Pacific Northwest
and at that time added oversize florals to her continuing studies of
glass, reflections and fluids.
